Carlos is a music educator and composer with over 35 years of experience. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree (CQCM/ USyd), has PhD studies in Music Composition (USyd), Master of Teaching studies (CSU) and is an ARIA Award nominee. Carlos is skilled in classical guitar, Latin American music, and Latin jazz. He has created the GEKO Technical Guitar & Ukulele Methods for learners of all ages. As a composer, he has written a variety of music, from symphonies to pieces for different ensembles. Carlos is also a music classroom teacher and has lectured in various institutions in Asia and Australia, focusing on classroom music education for children and Latin American music. He has also appeared on TV shows like "Viva" and "Lah Lah's Adventures", and currently runs the GEKO Music Online Academy as its Director and Head Tutor.
EDUCATOR
MUSIC SCHOOL FOUNDER, PRINCIPAL & HEAD TEACHER
Carlos is the founder and principal of the GEKO MUSIC ONLINE SCHOOL where he also teaches guitar. He leads a team of 15 teachers and more than 100 students from around the world who come together weekly for online music lessons learning all instruments. Carlos has written learning programs and methods for guitar, ukulele, ensembles and orchestras for children. He also designed, directed and implemented musical programs in Australian schools integrating classroom lessons with the repertoire being explored by each school's musical ensembles.
MUSIC PROGRAM PRESENTER
Carlos has presented lectures in universities around Australia and Asia in the subject of "Musical Pedagogy for Children through Latin American music". Between 1989- 2018, he presented thousands of educational concerts in Australian and Asian schools. In 2001, the Australian SBS TV Network made a 4-part documentary series of his life entitled "Viva". He has also been a TV presenter for the Australian TV network ABC for Kids in their children's music education program "Lah Lah's Adventures".
BAND & ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR
Carlos also took studies in orchestral and choral conducting and has conducted numerous symphonic ensembles in primary and secondary schools. He has also led several contemporary Latin American ensembles.
