Connecting and sharing music
The GEKO Music Academy began in Sydney in 2011 and its online platform was launched in April 2020 as GEKO Music Online, becoming one of the first online-only music academies in Australia.
The GEKO faculty is a diverse group of professionals dedicated to sharing their love of and expertise in music. Comprising professional musicians, accomplished university music graduates, experienced music Conservatorium lecturers, and passionate high school and primary school music teachers, the team offers a wealth of knowledge in a variety of musical disciplines.
Covering a wide range of instruments including wind, string, and percussion, the faculty also specializes in vocal training and music production. This comprehensive approach ensures that students receive a well-rounded musical education that caters to their individual interests and aspirations.
GEKO Music Online delivers hundreds of live online music lessons each week to children, teenagers and adults throughout Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

Here, a community of more than a hundred students engages weekly with proficient tutors who are driven by a shared commitment to providing top-tier music education. Operating out of Sydney, this virtual school has extended its reach across Australia to New Zealand and beyond, shaping a diverse cohort of aspiring musicians through unparalleled musical instruction and guidance.”
Our history
At GEKO Music, our journey from a traditional face-to-face music academy to a thriving online school has been a testament to adaptability and dedication. Originating in Sydney's Northern Beaches, our roots were firmly embedded in physical spaces like community halls, libraries, and school classrooms. The highlight of our calendar was the annual GEKO Music Festival, a celebration of the talent and hard work of our students.
The unforeseen circumstances of 2020 catapulted us into the digital realm, necessitating a shift to online operations. Initially a response to the temporary COVID lockdowns, our online programs soon flourished, reaching aspiring musicians across Australia. It was the resounding feedback from parents and students that urged us to make the transition permanent.
Embracing this new chapter, we have seamlessly blended the essence of community and our unwavering love for music into our online platform. While our beginnings may have been in physical spaces, our spirit and dedication remain unchanged. GEKO Music continues to empower students with the joy of music, bridging gaps and creating opportunities in the digital landscape.
